Execution

Preparation:

The main factor is that the weather is dry when the work has to be performed. Next, the bottom must be dry, because wax and water do not work together. Clean stones is also an extremely important factor to achieve a good result.

The area can be cleaned with a broom, even though it can be difficult to avoid sweeping soil and sand into corners and crevices. An industrial vacuum cleaner, on the contrary, can be used with a good result.

The rift depth for areas with light traffic is 2 cm - 2 ½ cm, and for heavier traffic 4 cm.

Laying out:

After carefully cleaning, the granules of sand is swept into the rifts. This is done with a light broom. It is important that the surface is swept completely clean to avoid burnt sand on the stones.

There must not be swept more granules in the rifts than you can manage to burn, in case it suddenly looks like it is going to rain. If the granules get wet you can only discard them. An absolute last solution, if the weather gets wet, you can use a tarpaulin.

Burning:

The burner is started and placed over the granules laid out, basically burn time 2 min & 15 sec. This time can be shorter or longer depending on soil and air temperature.

After burning is important to control the heating has reached the buttom of the rift, for this you can use a screwdriver. If the burning is not optimal, burn the sand 15 sec. in addition. The controlling must be executed regularly.

The Biosand will fall a few millimeters after burning, and therefore it will be necessary to fill in more granules and make a second burning. After the second filling it is extremely important that both layers are burned together. This can be checked with the screwdriver.

During the burn you work to the rear, so there will be no tire tracks on the pavement which has just been burned.
